1. Exploded Axonometric

When I saw the drawing at the top (2013) by Renzo Piano/RPBW of the new Vitra cabin, I was immediately reminded of the drawing at the bottom by Morphosis (1978) of the 2-4-6-8 House. Originally composed by Morphosis to continue the expression of the machine aesthetic in drawing and representation, I wonder what Piano’s intent is in applying the same method of communication? This style of drawing is common in ready-to-assemble flat packed items, e.g. IKEA furniture, and of course are used widely in wiring schematics.

The last image is of the artist Damian Ortega’s Cosmic Thing installation.

Can anyone add to the collection?
